What's New

The A Cat to E Cat has been called for what is was, a Police witch hunt, they should be ashamed of themselves

Door Keys

If you don't already have one, members can collect their RFID* door key from the duty RO on a Central Shooter club night

These cannot be posted for security reasons

Look after you key. Please do not not bend or otherwise mutilate the key. A replacement for a lost or damaged key will cost you $20

Using the Key

To use the key, simple bring it with 50 mm of the readers (plain plastic box on wall) by the front door or meeting room door. You will hear a beep and click, you can then pull or push the doors open respectively

Key Styles

There are three key styles available: "Credit Card", "Clam Shell", and "Tag"

The most common one is the Credit Card. This is thin enough to go into your wallet, or in your clip on name tag holder. It does not not have lanyard a hole in it

If you want to put a hole in the Credit Card key you can punch a hole in the areas indicated by the blue dots in this picture. This is not recommended though

Place the card up to a bright light to confirm the location of the coil (large circle) and inner electronics before punching. There is no warranty if this procedure kills your card

The Clam Shell key has a hole for attaching to most types of lanyards

Do not put Credit Card or Clam Shell style keys on a metal key ring, they will get damaged

The Tag keys are designed for placing on key rings. They are somewhat indestructible

Any of the keys can just be  placed in a pocket of your shooting bag, and it will still work without taking it out as it does not need to contact the reader, it just needs to be close enough

Personal Information Security

All these RFID keys do not hold any personal identifying information (as is the case for almost all RFID systems) just a random number. The list of key numbers and names is not kept in the door electronics or anywhere in the Central Shooters Club rooms. It is only stored in an off site password protected and encrypted file, and is only used to allocate and cancel keys
